John’s Full Bio

Education: John obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international relations from George Mason University and the University of Maryland, College Park, respectively. He is currently a law student at the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. In graduate school, he also studied abroad for a summer at Peking University in Beijing, China.

Experience: John started teaching in graduate school, where he lectured on political science topics to undergraduate students as well as tutored English for the school’s ESOL program. After graduation, he taught English full-time for over two years in Shanghai, China. Since returning to Northern Virginia, he has taught K-12 reading and writing; elementary and middle school math; AP subjects including English Language and Literature, World and U.S. History, Human Geography, and U.S. Government & Politics; test preparation for SAT, ACT, and SSAT; and even theology.

Specialties: John specializes in elementary school reading and writing skills, SAT Reading and Writing, and college admission essay revision. He enjoys helping students analyze their own work and finding patterns in their performance to help them improve. In his free time, John enjoys playing a good game of chess, reading self-help books, and traveling.
